With a new year, comes new year resolutions, and change.

In honor of the start of 2011, Hickory Squirrel Jewelry will be going through new changes!

Change for me, is an exciting thing, and a thing I can not do without. In fact, I am one of those people who crave change, and needs it to thrive. So, my friends, expect beautiful change this year. The web site will be undergoing some restorations, as will prices and jewelry pieces.
New, new, new I tell you! There will be a transition period, where things may be quiet, but expect this, as I come through some new changes in my own personal life. We just moved into our first home, and are expecting a new baby this May! With a lot of excitement, I will bring you some fine improvements for the new year! Thank you to everyone and I wish you happiness in your new year!

Forgive the Rooster:                                                                         July 2010

I have purchased a lot of jewelry online.. mostly off ebay, (due to a never-ending, easily search-able fountain, of.. anything) But more than once.. I have been disappointed in a huge way. Finding that my neat jewelry, was really.. not so neat after all.. I ended up not liking the way it looked on a ....person. Period. It looked great, laying all nice and pretty, with the cleverly thought up background...

So. In an effort to fight this battle here, at Hickory Squirrel Jewelry-

I made a video to show you, in real time, what the jewelry looks like, as it is dangling off a real human neck.. (we are not talking fake here folks)

Without further adieu,

Please. Forgive the Rooster.
Keeping it Local                                               Jan, 14 2010

Most of us are feeling the pinch of a poor economy somewhere in our lives.
Whether we feel it our our daily routine, or if it creeps up on us by the end of the month.. It's there. Like a faithful little paper cut.. reminding you he's still there while you dig at your morning grapefruit.

My little paper cut stays with me.. a weekly bother. (Especially while buying groceries.)
And while we struggle, I can't help.. but to fantasize about how things could be different.
We all are well aware, (what am I saying?? no we're not!!) that outsourcing is only exacerbating the issue. Believe me, I know what it is like to live on a tight budget, and to have no choice but to go with the cheaper (outsourced) product. But if we DO NOTHING, and continue with this behavior.. life can only get worse.. That means, less options for shopping, dining, jobs, every-thing. I am no politician, or freedom fighter.. and I still have to live on a budget to get by. But I promise to my state, to my country, that if the opportunity avails itself, I WILL make the choice to BUY LOCAL.

And in keeping my promise, I will keep an eye out for local goodies! And you should too! So, here are a few local Vermont products you might like to take a peek at!

We all know what holiday is right around the corner.
A dreaded day for some, or a much anticipated day, that will be filled with kanoodle-ing... spooning, chocolate, flowers, and/or that perfect, amazing (possibly sparkly) gift that is to be worn! Yep. Yep!
Well, in light of this lovely day coming up, I made a few special pieces that are dedicated to the day. It is my hope, that each holiday I will make a FEW special pieces that will represent the day, so check back to see what new inspirations will be popping up!

Unrelated news:
The contest went GREAT! I can't begin to tell you how much fun it was to put on the event, but I will tell you THERE WILL BE MORE! There were two lucky winners who scored themselves Squirrel Chewed earrings in Sterling Silver. As the new year continues to keep rolling in, I will keep hosting FREE giveaways of Hickory Squirrel Jewelry!  I plan on making more videos and posting to youtube, so the more subscribers I have, the more motivation I will have to keep hosting contests.
Until then, spread the word and for goodness sake, Smile today!!
Going for the GREEN!                                     March 13th 2011

Keeping my promise! For every holiday/ significant thing going on, I dedicate a few new jewelry designs to the occasion. Of course, I could not get any more cliche this month... GREEN. Yes. Saint Patrick's Day will be soon upon us, but also it's a little wishful thing as well. Don't get me wrong please, I do love a good hearty winter, but I have lots of seeds I want to get in the ground!

One of my favorite things to grow (amongst about 30 other different pants) is PEA PODS. Nothing says summer, like a cool, crisp and sweet pea pod right off the vine! And I might add, one of my newest necklaces is directly from the very thought of green peas!

Please stay tuned, and EXPECT new new new stuff around Hickory Squirrel Jewelry! There will be new designs, and a lot more color and creativity behind my unique jewelry. And as always, thanks for your support!

On another note: I am downsizing my own ETSY shop. I will be restocking it at a later date once things slow down a bit (after the baby comes!)
